Creating Breadbaskets of IP
About 6000 years ago farmers made a pivotal discovery for our world. They found that when manure from livestock was applied to their crops, their harvests would be greater and more bountiful than ever before. These farmers discovered the first fertilizers and changed the way we grow our food forever.
In recent decades, fertilizers haveĀ helped us keep up with a global population that has skyrocketed from just a few billion in the mid 1900s to 7 billion today. Fertilizers apply essential nutrients to a plant the same way fruits and vegetables provide us with essential vitamins. They help the plant grow stronger, healthier and faster — which helps it fend off disease and insects. Learn more in our Ag Innovation Series: Fertilizer
